Egg Me
I just got in from buying a bunch of candy for Halloween. Of course, I always buy way too much for a couple of reasons. Number one, I eat more than I give out every year, which is also why I don't buy it too far ahead of time; and number two reason for over-buying is that there will be plenty left over to eat after Halloween. The sad part is that I don't actually end up buying a whole lot of candy anyway because not many kids go Treat R Treating anymore. That is a result of the far reaching affects of the "Nannying" phenomena better known as "parents know best and therefore ruin everything". You know, kind of like the organized sports our kids play nowadays.
As I have extolled on more than one occasion, part of growing up is getting banged up. Parents and educators do more harm than good by being over-protective of children. The result is children that are overly sensitive to fun stuff like getting the crap scared out of you on Halloween. As the micro-managing of our children's welfare worsens by the piling on of stupid rules such as "Trick R Treating is only allowed between 4 and 8 p.m.", as is the case here in Weymouth, the next big "child safety" ruling will be to ban Halloween entirely.
Well, it's getting late, I better go get my costume on. I'm dressing up as an apple with a razor blade in it. That will at least scare the parents. Hopefully I'll get egged, at least it will raise hope that Halloween isn't dead, yet.
