This And That
Even though we use computers for just about everything nowadays, I still like to look up words in the dictionary, the old fashion way. I keep one on my desk at all times. The word for today is pundit. BTW (by the way) you do know that by holding the mouse over words that are highlighted in articles there is more information available? Also if you click on highlighted and underlined words they will link to other articles.
A man can board a plane in Yemen and fly to Detroit with a bomb in his underpants, but if you try and go for a brisk jog near the White House you won't last a minute. The last line in the article reads "his bag was declared suspicious".
The debate is starting to heat up again about banning "texting while driving" so look for Stanley Ramon's comments in opposition whenever the subject comes up. Recently they have begun the reports by stating that New Hampshire has instituted the ban. Big deal. Those knuckleheads don't care if you wear a seat belt but they're going to stop you from text messaging. Yah right! Anyway, it's a total cell phone ban or nothing for Stanley. Distracted driving is what causes accidents, not just text messaging.
The Senate election is January 19. Please vote. If you don't then I will remind you every chance I get that you have no say in anything whatsoever and are also a lazy ass. I will naturally be voting for Martha Coakley and not Gail Huff's husband, but by all means, here in the land of the free, you get to vote for whomever you like.
I will be attending the Patriot's first playoff game this Sunday with the Czar Of Zighiem. A dilemma has come up however, because it was just discovered that Gillette Stadium has been employing illegal immigrants. As much as this appalls me and forced me to consider not going to the game not drinking beer not eating before not eating while inside the stadium, I have decide that I will have one less beer than I otherwise would have had.
For those of you who get the Weymouth News, I recommend reading the Letter To The Editor in this week's edition. It was written by Linda McDonald in response to an opinion published there the previous week by Keith Spain. The opinion, also posted here, was on the the Town Of Weymouth's plans for new athletic fields.
Speaking of the Weymouth News, it appears that they are selective about publishing articles on their web site. One would think that the entire printed version of the news could also be accessed via the internet but that is not the case. I have inquired as to their reasons for this, but have not received a response.
The Wahey Boys have a new friend to link to called the TRiz Network. It is set up by Tom Rizzo, a long time Weymouth dude who presently lives in South Weymouth. We will add his link to our short list on the side bar. I should also mention that it appears Tom is a Republican, which means that Harry may have actually found a friend through this web site. Once again all views are welcome here and perhaps some of Tom's will be published here in the future.
Things Stanley will be watching this year-
- Southfield, to see if any work actually gets accomplished there.
- Legion Field, to see if it becomes any more than an embarrassing afterthought of the Mayor.
- Weymouth School Committee, to see how many silly policies they continue to add to the already bloated Student Handbooks.
- Weymouth's Community Preservation efforts.
- The continued uselessness of Weymouth's Historic Committee.
- Charter Schools, to see if this wonderful teaching tool is utilized more.
- The Red Sox, as usual.
