A Few Quick Thoughts
Just a few quick thoughts before we head out to talk on our cells while driving without seat belts on.
Aiden Quinn, the Trolley driver with the cell phone fetish, along with a few other issues, says through her/ his lawyer that he wants the media to leave him alone. Another sign of Mr. Quinn's obvious immaturity is his refusal to face his boss, admit his mistakes and take his firing like a man or woman, whatever. If he did this then the media buzz would probably subside. The longer he stays in hiding, the longer the media will try to track him down.
It's also good to see that someone is finally stating the obvious and actually putting at least some of the blame on the MBTA rather than blaming the entire accident on a cell phone. The President of The Boston Carmen's Union is saying the Green Line needs a modern signal system. Considering that this is the second major accident on this line in less than a year (in the first one the driver died), one would think that the problem won't be solved by banning cell phones. Of course, we stand by our initial thoughts that more training and better qualifications might be needed also.
Mayor Sue Kay continues to show her inexperience as the Town Of Weymouth's leader by patting herself on the back recently when she offered up a budget that wouldn't require layoffs. In her recent State Of The Town Address, she confesses that layoffs may be needed due to her original mistaken assumption that the Town would receive more money from the State. Although us Waheys make note of the fact that planning a budget requires a certain amount of assumption, we would suggest the Mayor, given the current and expected state of the economy, should assume the worst and give us some good news when it happens.
Although we yearn for the good ole hockey days when when a punk like Scott Walker would have been bloodied up in last night's game, maybe it's a sign of the times that these Bruins were professionals and went out and got a win. And maybe it's a sign that they're good enough to keep their heads in the playoffs all the way to the Stanley Cup.
We like to see J. D. Drew doing good and we like to Stephon Marbury doing good. These guys could easily become targets, and may still, if our favorite teams ever start losing.
