Marys' Point Dedication

The Wahey Boys have their own personal memory of May Toomey. What is ironic is that the very spot that The Boys had many of their infamous cookouts is where a stone marker has been placed in recognition of the commitment she and another Mary, Mary Sears, made to preserve the land along the Back River. That section of Webb State Park will now be known as Marys' Point. Representative Jaime Murphy and Mayor Sue Kay were among others that spoke in praise of both Marys. The Police and American Legion Honor Guards opened the ceromony along with an invocation by Monsignor Peter Martochhio (from Immaculate Conception days). A notable no-show was Senator Bob Hedlund. Town Councilers Victor Pap and Mike Mollisse were on hand as well as Counciler hopeful Linda McDonald. There was also a Dave Madden sighting but getting a picture of him proved as elusive as an Ivory Billed Woodpecker photo.

Representative Murphy unveils the marker. It was honorable that Counciler Pap stayed for the entire ceremony although, as seen in this picture, he makes a lame attempt at getting his picture taken as if he was actually part of it.
