The Obama Indoctrination Song

Mr. Right is at it again, spreading his conservative lies. It never ceases to amaze me what lengths conservative talk radio and television will go, to boost ratings and spread hatred. Last night I listened in on Dan Rea’s talk show on WBZ Radio. He is a lawyer/ television reporter/ conservative expert on nothing, that loves to come across as being open minded but is willing to do anything for ratings. Last night was a perfect example of how personalities influence their audience’s opinion. Mr. Rea repeatedly played the Obama Song while he welcomed callers to the show to voice their thoughts about the song. As he cunningly expressed his own views on the song, he offered no history as to the songs origin or why it possibly was made, but rather inferred that it’s motive was to indoctrinate America’s youth into some socialist movement. He took lots of calls from the usual cast of suck-ups, making them appear very wise and poked fun of those that attempted to downplay the song’s significance.

As Mr. Rea so clearly showed, the Obama Song video that was leaked to YouTube, standing alone, appears as an attempt to impart a teacher’s political ideas on her students, in the name of our President. Anyone with a modicum of intelligence would naturally question how or why the President Of The United States would be behind the indoctrination of a handful of students in one New Jersey school. However, in much the same way that conservatives greased the rumor wheels when President Obama wanted to speak with our school children about the value of being good students and citizens, the hate mongers perpetuate a fear of socialism with scare tactics and lies.

Barrack Obama was inaugurated on January 20, 2009 and the following month, February, was Black History Month. Whether you agree with our President or the idea of Black History, most would agree that a teacher should at least make students aware of these historical events. The song video was made in February, just after the Presidential Inauguration. If it had been leaked back then, the backlash would have been understandably minimal, which is why the hate mongers chose to reveal it now, to coincide with the wave of “socialism” panic being perpetrated in order to undermine the health care debate and the President’s real agenda.

BTW, an interesting side note to the whole song thing. A couple of years ago a group of school kids from New Orleans sang similar praise to then President George W. Bush as a way of thanking him for FEMA's response to Katrina, which I'm sure they now regret.

The month of February in the United States and Canada is intended to be an annual remembrance of people and events of African-American significance. Instead it often becomes a source of debate over whether it is fair to designate a particular period of time to one race. In education it is meant to be set aside as a time to learn about African-American culture and history.
